The theme this week at Penny Black Challenge was to make something with snow in it. I made this card a couple of weeks ago for a Christmas card swap I was in, but it also works out for this weeks theme as well! Go here to see the other participants:
Penny Black Challenge.
You can't see it well, but I do have a glitter snowflake on the card as well.

Want to have a secret Christmas gift?
I found this blog called Pink Christmas. Here is a little bit about the group from their website:
This year Pink Christmas will be sponsoring a entire family - they are amazing. They have immigrated to Washington D.C. from Africa and are beginning their new life. They have 4 amazing children. Ages 12, 8, 2 and just a few months old. The sweet mother just had twins but one passed away and the other little boy is still in the hospital weighing just a few pounds. They need everything that you could think of to begin a new life in a new home. All the money will go to helping them get the necessities to do just that.
Not only do you help out a family by donating $15 to them, but you get matched up with a Pink Christmas "girlfriend" who you receive a questionnaire filled out with answers that your friend likes and doesn't like. You make a gift to give them to open on Christmas. I thought this was a really cool idea and signed up. The deadline to sign up is July 31st, so there is still plenty of time. If you go to their website, scroll down to see some of last years participants and what they gave each other.
Did you know that Goodwill now has an auction site similar to Ebay? Here's the link: http://www.shopgoodwill.com/ They have quite a bit of crafting items, if you're a crafter you might want to check it out. I know I squealed with delight when I saw a bag of vintage buttons! There is also a lot of vintage trains in the crafting section. I thought of my nephew Noah when I saw those.
I think I'm going to try inchies and twinchies, there is a crafting challenge blog which challenges you to create inchies (1x1 inch square) every Saturday. Twinchies are 2x2 inch squares. Anyway, I think I'll try this, I'll post some photos if these little guys turn out.
My mind seems to be mush tonight. I'm covering the front desk at work Thursday, Friday and Monday. I'm basically doing receptionist work, answering phones, answering questions by people and employees who stop by, and trying to get work done in the meantime. I started in the HR department doing this job, but I gotta tell you that having been away from the job for a little over 2 years now, I was exhausted tonight! I love people and working with people, but there was so many window people that I was just too tired to talk tonight. It's a good thing Audrey is so tired from the pool today, she's asleep in the recliner, or else I don't know how chatty I would be. Friday I have to be at work at 7:30, which means we need to leave the house around 6:45 am or so...ugh.....way too early in the morning. At least it's Friday! It's dress down day, so I can wear khaki pants, and I will get to leave around 4:00! All great things.
I'm off to craft a little bit and drool over this man. Chad Michael Murray from One Tree Hill. Audrey is watching A Cinderella Story and he's in it.

Should I be concerned?
Audrey decided she wanted to play in the bathtub, and as hot as she was during the day and even here at home with window a/c it gets warmer than central air. I told her I didn't care, she asked if she could put some of her Barbies in the bath with her. I told her that was fine. About 20 minutes later I realize the house is silent, I hear her in the bathroom talking very quietly and singing.
I look around the corner and see this. She proceeds to tell me that the doll hanging with a faucet between his legs is Prince Charming riding a horse. Okay.....
A few minutes later I look around the corner again to see this! Now Prince Charming is having a pool party. Notice they are all naked? Yeah...I'm sure any Prince Charming would love a naked pool party.

Shredded Chicken
I found this recipe for crock pot chicken and wanted to try it out. I have to say it was very easy to mix up and tasted pretty good, though it was lacking something, not quite sure what, but there was something missing. You could serve it as a sandwich or serve as a burrito or over rice.
The Best Shredded Chicken Recipe
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breast
- 1 (16 ounce) jar medium hot salsa
- 2 serrano peppers, chopped (I didn't use this)
- 6 cloves garlic, pressed
- 1 packet taco seasoning
This recipe makes a lot, way more than I could eat by myself. I'll be bringing leftovers to work for everyone to eat.
I just finished up taking an online test for my psychology class and received a B!

Our Sunday
What is happening to me? I turned 35 two weeks ago, and it seems my body is falling apart. I've been complaining of what I think is arthritis for the last six to eight weeks. My right ankle hurts more in the morning when I wake up versus being on my feet all day. Strange isn't it? After I was up and moving around, my ankle seemed to feel a little bit better. I've been taking Tylenol arthritis for the last couple of days which has really seemed to help the pain.
Today I woke up and in my back, on the right side in the middle really hurts when I move my arm back. It feels like a pulled muscle, but it also feels like I bruised it. I asked Audrey if she saw a bruise but she says no, I asked if she could feel a lump, because I swear there is one there. I have no idea what I would have done to it. I cleaned the house pretty good over the weekend, it's probably my body going into shock because of that.
I thought I caught my Deck of Me cards up to date, however after looking back at the emails, I realized I missed week 26. Oh well, that's better than being 3 months behind on that project. I'm not going to post all the photos of what I made. If anyone is interested, they can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/71977780@N00/
Audrey and I ran to Target today to pick up some household things they had on sale like laundry soap, and pop. We then took a walk around town, even with my sore ankle and back. She needed to run off some energy so she pushed her scooter while I walked. I also made both lunch and dinner, nothing fabulous, but of course I had to clean up dishes twice today.
Yesterday before we went to my parents house, Audrey and I went to the movies to see Journey to the Center of the Earth in 3D. This movie stars Brendan Fraser (super cute man from George of the Jungle and The Mummy) and a cast of other characters who journey to the center of the earth. I have to admit, seeing the whole movie in 3D was pretty cool. It was also a pretty penny, since it was in 3D we were charged more for the movie tickets. Instead of the normal $7.00 for a matinée, it was $10.00 per person, but we enjoyed ourselves. I guess that's all that matters!
I have a crockpot shredded chicken recipe I want to try out this week. If it turns out, I'll post some photos along with the recipe.
Man...I'm ready for bed and it's only 8:40, not quite yet, I have to finish watching Extreme Home Makeover, I need my Sunday night crying fix. Good night!

Mom and Dad's anniversary
Yesterday was my parents anniversary, so we all went to Mom and Dad's for cake and ice cream. Here's one of the photos that I took of them.
It ended up raining while we were there. Afterwards it was even more hot and humid, I was standing outside taking photos of flowers and sweating, all I was doing was standing. We ended up with bad storms last night, it's no wonder with the humidity in the air.
Here's some of the photos I took of flowers from Mom and Dad's backyard. You can even see some rain drops hanging on the flowers.
